Summer Vacation in Seoul

Long Time no See!!!

I am right in Seoul on summer vacation with my brother. We came here to scout since he wants to live here in the future. We have attended the Incheon Korean Music Wave concert on our 2nd here, and the United Cube concert the day after. Both concerts were lots of fun. I want more!!!! hahaha but we are now very tired. We have walked a lot as well. We went to see 2NE1 fan signing event in Times Square mall. Then we have visited Gyeongbokgung and Dangdaemun market. We have more to see, so I shall come back and write again later. For now, I let youenjoy the pictures below.

NGuyen Family on the move

In about a week, my cousin who lives in Laos will get married. And for this event, my aunts have travelled to Vientiane last week, and my parents with my grandma are flying out tomorrow morning. It is a stressful moment: Passports, gifts, transportation.... OMG!!!

Well, I've fixed some of it just now. I called AirFrance hotline and after a long 10-15 minute wait, I finally got to speak with someone. After spelling him out my gandma's maiden name instead of her married name (trouble with being a widow I guess), we found out there was no passport recorded... to cut the story short, there should be no problem for her at the airport tomorrow. So I took the opportunity to ask him about boarding assistance for... you know... "old" people :p . In only 5 minutes, it was agreed that a hostess would come and pick my grandma up at the check-in counter with a wheeling chair, take her to the plane, and pick her up at the door upon arrival. I am so relieved. Such a long flight can't be comfortable when you're over 70. It's not comfortable whatever your age really!

After my parents leave, I will be pretty busy myself. I'm flying to Germany next Wednesday, come back Friday evening. Then I'll be in Romania Sunday to Friday. And finally, I will fly to Milan on Sunday November, 14th where I will have a week of workshop and on Friday Morning, I will fly to LOS ANGELES to see my brother! I miss him so much... it's been 6 months!!! (since May, 2nd this year)

Oh well... Evilbou is still on the move!

EvilBou in Milano

I was in Milano for the past 2 weeks. I was there for work, and pretty busy but I still managed to go into town for a little shopping and a LOT of window-shopping!!!

I asked someone @ work where I should go for shoes, and his answer was naturally (for him) "via Montenapoleone"...
Man, this is the street where designers have their flagship stores: Gucci, Prada, YSL, Chanel, Ralph Lauren and so ooooon...
On my last day there last week, I was decided to treat myself to a very good (and freaking expensive) pair of leather shoes. But hopefully (or not?) I went to a department store just before hitting the via Montenapoleone. And there I saw my friend "Mac Book Pro". So while I was walking down the via Montenapoleone, I was torn between the shoes and the Mac. Torn between my "shoe fetish" and "geek" personalities... Oh what a predicament!!!

And the winner is... my flight ticket to Los Angeles to see my brother and spend Thanksgiving with the K family!

EvilBou is craving for Sunny holidays

I will fly to Los Angeles on April, 6th YAY!!! I have my flight booked, my holidays approved.

I CANT WAIT!!!

I am going to visit my brother who studies over there. He's been there for 2 months now. He seems to have settled down OK now, so I'm  less worried. He's made friends, is interested in his studies, learning how to drive.

3 weeks and counting...

EvilBou living in Dusseldorf?

Can you picture that?

Early 2009, I hated travelling to Germany. Now, I'd like to find an appartment, open a café in town and buy a property.

Dusseldorf is not too big a city, well located, not too far from Essen, Köln, Amsterdam. Life is not as expensive as I first thought. Could even be cheaper than Grenoble!!! Shopping is good, authentic Japanese and Korean restaurants... but the language....

*sigh* Speaking German will be my hardest challenge.

Hmmm, I'll ponder all that and come back to you later.

EvilBou lost in Copenhagen (Shopping) Streets

Yesterday afternoon, I landed in Copenhagen Airport. And something I knew but obviously forgot was that Denmark doesn't use EURO!!!

So I wanted to go and have a look at the city before going to the hotel in Taastrup (30min train ride from Copenhagen city centre). So here I was looking for a way to go to the city from the airport. As I was walking and looking at a machine which would sell me tickets to go somewhere... I wasn't sure where or how. A very nice English-speaking Airport security guy offered me his help. And he told me the metro would take me directly to Copenhagen city centre.
So I bought a metro ticket to
Copenhagen centre. The Copenhagen metro is more like the one in Lille than Paris, with 2 lines, and it doesn't go underground which was nice because yesterday the weather was absolutely gorgeous. And in less than 15 min, I was in the city centre.
So far, this is the fastest and cheapest and more convenient way I've ever seen from an airport to the city.

As I was walking along the streets, I noticed at least 7 different H&M shops (H&M, H&M for Men, H&M for Women, H&M for Kids), a lot of bikes, and a lot of luxury shops (Louis Vutton, Gucci, etc) but also UK chains (Topshop, Vero Moda, Aldo, etc) Believe it or not, I didn't buy a single piece of clothing... at least not for myself. I bought a Liverpool FC jersey and T-shirt for my little brother.
And guess what? I only saw one McDonalds! And I have been walking for about 2 hours!!!

Something I didn't like was that shops closed at 6pm. They close at 7 on Saturdays. and I think they are open on Sundays, but I'll have to ask.

Then.... I got lost. I had to find the train station now to go to my hotel in Hoje Taastrup. Before going to Copenhage I had made absolutely no planning whatsoever... But I felt this adventurous feeling that I had before and felt happy anyways.

So I finally found the train station, and after 15 min I finally decided to take the S-train to Taastrup. There was one train every 10 minutes, and it'd take 27 minutes to get there. Half an hour later, I was checking in the hotel.

Metro ticket Airport-city centre: 31.50 DKK
Liverpool FC Jersey+Tshirt: 649 DKK
Train ticket city centre-Hoje Taastrup: 63 DKK
1€ = 7.35 DKK approx
